As MSM is a member of the Qld Chapter of PESA (Positive Education Schools Australia), the Chair of the Chapter at the Gap SHS has very kindly extended an invitation (to our parents) to a presentation by Professor Lea Waters on Strengths-Based Parenting. This aligns with our positive education program as ‘strengths’ is one of the constructs we focus on. It offers innovative, practical strategies for a totally different approach to parenting.
This event is free but you need to book using the following link https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/the-strength-switch-unlock-…
At our Opening College Assembly for Term 2, our Principal and College Captains set us the challenge of striving high and reaching all of our goals.
Congratulations to Hannah Casey, Georgia Walker, Lily Boland, Tabatha Fachin and Emma Donaldson for competing at the Queensland State Swimming Championships held in the last week of Term 1 at the Brisbane Aquatic Centre.
A special mention goes to Hannah Casey (12yrs) who placed second in the 200m Freestyle relay and Lily Boland (16yrs) placing 3rd in the 50m Multiclass Freestyle event. Well done to all students who competed at this premier event.
Congratulations to Taylor Huston (Year 9) who has been invited by the Houston Ballet Academy to be a part of their summer intensive workshop in San Antonio, Texas this July.
Positions in workshops (particularly in the US) are heavily coveted and can only be offered through auditions. Taylor will be attending a 12 day workshop everyday from 9am-4:30pm.
Year 10 ITC students fully immersed in class today with the robots that they have been working on. Truly engaging real world learning for all of the students involved.
In the Water Polo U18 Grand Final, Mt St Michael’s College defeated Somerville House 7-6. It was a nail biting final and huge congratulations to our squad for coming out on top.
It was Tennis Grand Finals this weekend and we had a great season, with five of our eight teams making it to their Grand Final.
Our Senior C team came out on top in their Grand Final, defeating Stuartholme School on our home courts.
Well done to our eight teams who competed so well during the course of this season.
Two Mt St Michael’s students represented the College at the Wide Bay Regional Championships held at the Queensland State Equestrian Centre over the weekend.
Brooklyn Williams (Year 8) competed in the Show Jumping (80cm) on Friday evening and was awarded Reserve Champion. Meanwhile, Lily Weaver (Year 9) competed on Saturday, also receiving a Reserve Champion pennant.
This result now enables Lily and Brooklyn to represent MSM in Show Jumping at the State Championships in June. Congratulations to both Brooklyn and Lily (and their horses) on a fantastic effort.
