Staff vs Students netball game

There was a highly competitive Staff v Students Netball game at lunchtime today. Well done to all those who played, it was a great spectacle for the supporters.
All proceeds from the event will go to Downs & West Community Support.

Humanities Day

To celebrate Humanities Day our students partook in a number of fun activities. There was a student versus teacher history cahoot, match the country, flag, map and artefact, drawing your name in Egyptian hieroglyphics (cartouche), completing world jigsaw puzzles and for those more adventurous, completing the clues relating to the school treasure map! Additionally some year levels took part in both the History competition (Australia wide) and Geography competition (worldwide). We eagerly await the results.

On Wednesday evening, our Year 11 and Year 12 Theatresports team, The Untitled, made it through to the quarter finals of their competition.

Amelia Aspros, Mia Gould, Bernie Ryan, Gen Ryan, Lara Wenham and Ruth Boyle demonstrated skills in improvisation and teamwork. Congratulations to the whole team on their success against tough competition.

Year 9 students attend Altitude Day

Twelve Year 9 students, along with Ms Boch, attended Altitude Day 2018 on Wednesday May 30. Altitude Day is an annual one-day event created to empower Year 9 students during this important stage in their school journey.

Through inspirational talks and energising group activities, students learn how to become active and inspiring leaders of their school and community. Students gain advice about good choices, how to build confidence and how to make a difference whilst forming a strong network of peers amongst other schools. Students begin to truly understand what it means to be a leader.

da Vinci Decathlon results

The results from the first day of the da Vinci Decathlon are in! Very well done to both of our teams.

Our Year 9 team came 1st in the Engineering section and the Ideation section. Meanwhile our Year 10 students came 1st in the Science section and 3rd in the Art and Poetry section.

Library & Information Week

The theme this year for Library & Information Week was ‘Find yourself in a Library.’ To celebrate, the MSM Library hosted our own Maze Quest, challenging our participants to find a series of quotes from the novel, Maze Runner, hidden around the library.

Our ‘runners’ needed to follow a map of the library to locate each quote. Our winners were Scarlett Blasl (7C), Emily Draper (7E), Cate Gaskell (8D) and Christine Rowell (8C).
