They sang, mimed, played games and did activities all completely in French! C’était fantastique!
Students and Staff represented Mt St Michael’s College bright and early on Saturday morning at the 20th anniversary of National Sorry Day at Teralba Park.
On Friday 18 May and Thursday 24 May, the MSM Senior and Middle Years Dance Ensemble students, performed at the Brisbane Eisteddfod against forty other schools from across Queensland. The standard at this Eisteddfod is extremely high and our Dance Ensemble students performed with enthusiasm, energy and strong technical skills.
The Senior Dance Ensemble group performed very well against other schools in their Contemporary, Lyrical and Jazz sections. The Middle Years Dance ensemble students received a Highly Commended award for one of their dances in the lyrical section and performed with energy and focus in their Jazz Section.
Congratulations to all students who performed at the Eisteddfod and well done on these great results. Thank you to Lily Mestric, Stef Russell and Miss Boch who choreographed the Dance routines. A big thanks to Ms Brash-McPhee, Ms Paterson and Miss Boch for their management of the groups and the eisteddfod excursion.
Our final event for Library & Information Week was #Friday Unplugged where students were encouraged to find themselves in a library singing. Our acoustic lunch break of song and music was beautifully led by our Cultural Captains, Bella Dredge and Genevieve Cramsie.
The aim of our event was to encourage the students to switch off their computers in the library for one lunch break, relax and enjoy each other’s company. The library staff are very grateful to Bella for leading us in song. A very big thank you also to Mrs Linda Statham and Mr Adam Watson.
Our inaugural ‘Coffee and Conversations’ morning for MSM Alumni with daughters currently at the College, was held this morning. It was a wonderful success, with the event hosted on the newly decorated rooftop terrace of the Ionian Centre.
The beautiful artwork was produced by Ms Pettina Bateman.
This week saw the final social for the Year 10 Marist Dancing Lessons. The night was held at Marist Champagnat Centre and was attended by over three hundred students from Marist College, Loreto College and Mt St Michael’s College.
Our students had a wonderful night socialising with their peers and embracing the ‘old style’ dances such as the jive, the gypsy tap and the box waltz. Congratulations to Lauren Adams who was named Mt St Michael’s dancer of the evening.
A big thank you goes to Marist College for co-ordinating and hosting this invaluable opportunity and to the Mt St Michael’s teachers who attended the various dancing lessons and final social.
