The Year 9 Business & Enterprise students were thoroughly engaged today during a workshop presented by Start Smart. Their financial knowledge was extended through discussions about Smart Earning, Smart Spending and Smart Saving.
Our Mary Aikenhead Day Eucharist celebration was a joyous occasion. Singing filled the Sophia Centre and Fr Marty Larsen reminded us that, while technology and our surroundings change over time, our values remain with us. Sr Margaret Mines explained how the values of love and compassion drove her to work with the marginalized in Sydney. What a truly wonderful celebration!
Our Mission Week celebrations continued today with our much anticipated ExtravaCANza event. Great fun was had while watching eager students throw plates of cream towards brave teachers at the ‘Cream a Teacher’ stall. The sausage sizzle and spider stall were a hit for lunch, with the lolly necklace stall a great option for dessert. Many students won a prize at the ‘Shoot for a Hoop’ stall. Thanks to all of our CAN students and teachers for their commitment to this fundraising activity and to our wonderful maintenance team. All proceeds go to the Term 3 fundraiser, the Weemala Indigenous Unit at ACU.
Members of our Missions of St Vincent CAN group have been busy this week making lolly necklaces to sell at today’s ExtravaCANza event. The lollies were a big hit with Middle school students!
Congratulations to Lily Weaver who competed in the Southern Steel Group International Three Day Event and Eventing QLD State Championships over the weekend at Tamborine. On Sunday she completed the 2km, 19 fence cross country course without fault, securing a 10th place overall in her class and a 3rd place in the junior class.
Last Thursday 21 of our Year 10, 11 & 12 French students attended a live theatre performance in French of ‘Hélas, Avril’ at the Metro Arts Theatre. It was a rare treat for the students to experience live theatre in French (with surtitles projected above the stage). The amusing performance was enjoyed by all!
