The 2018 MSM Arts Festival ‘Spark’ was a huge success with wonderful crowds from our community enjoying the arts work of our students, as well as the fantastic food on offer. Over 400 students proudly presented their art work throughout the evening and the closing ceremony, combining dance, music, drama and art, was a dazzling display of the talents of our students, Arts teachers and IT support staff. Congratulations to all students, Ms Statham, Arts teachers and support staff, and all MSM staff and community involved in this wonderful event.
Congratulations to Kasey, Isabelle, Jess, Olivia, Brooke, Caitlin and Genevieve for their recent Cadet division Grand Final success at Downey Park.
The Social Justice Group attended the ‘Because of Her, we can’ Indigenous Mass at ACU today. It was a memorable occasion because of the indigenous symbols as alter offerings and the sacred harmonies by the members of Veranda ChiX. Our MSM students were also given the opportunity to participate in the mass as they read the prayers of the faithful. Special guest Shannon shared his cultural rituals and understanding of Indigenous artifacts. We then celebrated with a lunch where we shared stories with the Weemala community. MSM is always grateful for the offer of friendship and the opportunity to connect with Weemala.
The Open A Netball team have booked their place in the Vicki Wilson Cup Finals Series at the State Netball Centre in October following victory over CaSSSA rivals, St Rita’s College. In a see-sawing and physical contest, MSM prevailed 39-36 to the delight of an enthusiastic home crowd. Coach, Karyn Carr said that she “could not be prouder of the way that the girls stuck to their game plan throughout the match”.
The team must be commended for their courage and sportsmanship throughout the whole campaign. Stay tuned for supporter bus details for the Final Series.

“Balance Me”, an App created by a team of MSM Year 9 students, has reached the State Finals of The Tech Girls are Superheroes competition – a 12 week STEM entrepreneurship program. The App is designed to help students find an equilibrium in life. It is set apart from all other products because it considers what is essential for a healthy life – a blend of work, exercise and relaxation. As part of the competition students are required to present a comprehensive business plan, a working app prototype and a public pitch. Congratulations to Elora Brady, Siena D’Arienzo, Bella Leung-Dias, Jazmine Armstrong and Ella Patterson.
